The Barrett Summer Scholars (BSS) program provides students with the opportunity to experience college firsthand and prepare for enrollment and success at Arizona State University and Barrett, the Honors College.

Barrett Summer Scholars is a residential summer enrichment program for academically talented and motivated students entering 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade in Fall 2023. Students participate in a Critical Thinking or Human Event course and an elective taught by university faculty or staff to prepare them for enrollment and success at ASU and Barrett, the Honors College. BSS invites students to engage in college-level coursework and participate in a community of peers from across the state.
On-campus, residential
Barrett Summer Scholars is still in the process of finalizing the elective courses that will be offered in Summer 2023.
Applicants is entering the 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in Fall 2023 Academically motivated and/or high achieving students are encouraged to apply. While there is no minimum GPA required for eligibility, eligible students should demonstrate a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

Program Fees
$1,000 per participant
This covers housing, dining and program material
The program fee, which includes a $50 non-refundable deposit, is due after notification of acceptance into the program.
Financial Aid
Scholarships are available to applicants who demonstrate financial need or recent financial hardships. Interested applicants must complete the Scholarship Application section included with the program application. Scholarships awarded will not cover the $50 non-refundable deposit.
