Make your college application stand out from the crowd through our College Prep Program. In this five-week program, you’ll have the opportunity to take classes with current undergraduate students, learn from renowned Georgetown faculty, and earn college credit.




Throughout the program, you’ll also attend College Prep Seminars, where you’ll master test-taking strategies for the SAT and ACT, prepare for the college search and admissions process, and develop valuable skills that will help you succeed in college and beyond.

On-campus, residential
As a student in the College Prep Program, you'll take one 3- or 4-credit course and participate in College Prep Seminars.
College Credit Courses
You’ll have the opportunity to take a credit course from a curated list of eligible courses. Credit courses are scheduled each day Monday through Thursday, and meet for two hours per class, for a total of eight hours of class per week. Homework could include readings, essays, research papers, group projects, quizzes, midterms, and final exams. You should plan to study and work on assignments for 18 hours a week.
College Prep Seminars
Seminars cover three areas:
1 - Diagnostic Testing
You’ll sit for three full-length diagnostic exams, which will take place on the first Tuesday evening, the second Saturday, and the fourth Saturday of the five-week session.
2 - Academic & Test Prep
This seminar series will begin the second week of the program and convene every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Led by experienced academic professionals, teachers, and test prep instructors, you’ll learn in small groups, where you’ll benefit from personalized attention. At the conclusion of the program, you’ll receive a detailed final report that highlights areas of your progress in different academic subjects, as well as customized suggestions for how to continue studying for the SAT/ACT. You’ll also receive a 150-page manual, 500+ instructional flashcards, and a collection of official exams, which will offer continued support in the weeks leading up to SAT and ACT test dates. Seminars will provide instruction in four main areas:
- Test Taking Strategies and Techniques for the SAT and ACT
- High School Foundations: Review of critical content in Algebra I, Algebra II, and English grammar conventions
- College Language Skills: Dedicated time focused on analytical reading and essay writing
- Recitation Blocks: Focused attention and guidance to ensure students are making progress, meeting learning objectives, and staying on top of course material
3 - College Search and Beyond Academics
This series features weekly small-group seminars led by the Academic Director and the mentor team. The seminars introduce students to important skills, techniques, and approaches for success in the college search—and once they arrive on campus. Each student will complete five seminars from a list of available topics. Topics may include:
College Search: College search basics, finding the right fit, planning your application, writing the application essay, Georgetown admissions
Beyond Academics: Goal setting, the science of studying, resilience, managing stress, thriving on campus, the Georgetown student experience, effective note-taking.
Optional Opportunities & Resources Include:
University Writing Center
All College Prep students have access to the University Writing Center, a free service offered by trained Georgetown University students and faculty. Regardless of how little or how much progress you have made on an assignment, the Writing Center can help with all aspects of the writing process and is designed to help you improve your critical thinking, revision, and editing skills. If you already have a draft of your personal statement for college applications, the Writing Center can assist with editing your draft.
College Admissions Workshop for Rising Seniors
If you are a rising senior, two optional college application assistance workshops are available for an additional fee of $295. These sessions will cover the personal statement for the common application (selecting a topic, writing the essay, and receiving a detailed critique and edit of student essays), as well as putting together a resume and practicing for college interviews. These two sessions will each be three hours in length and will not conflict with credit courses or College Prep Seminars.

To apply to High School Sessions—College Prep, you must meet the following criteria:
1 - Be a current or rising high school freshman, sophomore, or junior, or a rising senior during the academic year prior to your summer program.
2 - Show evidence of good academic standing, with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Steps to Complete Your Application:
1 - 300- to 500-word personal statement:
Write a 300- to 500-word personal statement describing why you want to attend the Summer High School Programs at Georgetown University. Your completed essay should be uploaded to your online application prior to submission.
2 - Letter of Recommendation:
Provide the contact information of one reference within the online application. Upon submitting your application and $50 application fee, your chosen point of contact will receive an electronic request with instructions for submitting their letter of recommendation.
3 - $50 Application Fee.
In order to submit your application, you must provide a non-refundable $50 application fee.
4 - Transcript
Email a copy of your unofficial or official transcript to [email protected]; it can also be mailed to our Admissions Office.
5 - International Student Requirements:
If English is not the primary language of instruction at your high school, please submit TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo scores to [email protected]. If you attend a bilingual school, your school official must email a copy of your school profile to [email protected] in lieu of TOEFL Scores.

Hoya Summer High School Sessions are full, but our Pre-College Online Program is wide open. Study anywhere, anytime, at your own pace.

For all applications submitted by this date, the app fee will be waived.

College Prep Fee (covers housing & College Prep seminars): $3,863*

Pre-college fee: $745*
*Estimated cost, subject to change
**The $745 pre-college fee is used for additional campus support that the high school programs warrant due to the younger age of student participants. The pre-college fee is non-refundable two weeks or fewer before the course or program start date.
Financial Aid
A limited number of scholarship awards are available to students who demonstrate financial need. Only students who have been admitted to our summer programs (College Credit Course or Non-Credit Academies) are eligible to apply. Scholarship awards are strictly for tuition and do not apply to other fees.
