Mon-Friday Class 9:30am-12pm and 1pm-4pm
This all-day immersive program explores the field of medicine and will encourage deep learning and practical application of the technical and personal skills necessary to succeed as a medical professional. Action-based simulations led by experts will expose students to the daily work life of a medical professional, including suturing, dissection, trauma response, clinical diagnostic simulations, case studies, and lively class discussions. This interactive approach to learning encourages teamwork, teaches leadership, and targets higher-order learning that students can apply to a future career in medicine and beyond. Reflecting the eight-hour workday, students are typically in class from 9:30 to 5:00 pm with breaks for lunch and between academic experiences. Each day is different and that time may be filled with visits to medical labs, medical research institutes, and lectures from well-known medical practitioners.
I have always been interested in medicine, but I didn't know what I wanted to do specifically. The Summer Discovery Career Accelerator for Medicine & Health Sciences helped me to explore my interests and to learn more about the different career options in medicine.
I had the opportunity to take courses in a variety of subjects, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. I also had the opportunity to shadow doctors and nurses, which gave me a real-world look at what it's like to work in the medical field.
The program was very well-organized and the professors were all very knowledgeable and helpful. They were always available to answer my questions and they were always willing to help me with my research. The program also had a lot of great resources, such as the library and the computer lab.
I would highly recommend the Summer Discovery Career Accelerator for Medicine & Health Sciences to any high school student who is interested in a career in medicine.
I was a little hesitant to apply for the Summer Discovery Career Accelerator for Medicine & Health Sciences because I was worried that I wouldn't be good enough. But I'm so glad I did! The program was amazing and I learned so much.
I worked with a great mentor and we were able to make some real progress on our research project. We also had the opportunity to attend some great lectures and workshops. I made some great friends in the program and we had a lot of fun together.

Step 1:
Complete the Summer Discovery online application with $100 non-refundable application fee (not applicable towards tuition).
Step 2:
Fill out the application section by section, paying careful attention to the information you provide. Note: When asked for your GPA (High School Students only), you will self-report and type in your current GPA. When asked for your counselor/advisor contact information (all applicants), be sure to include their first and last name and an exact email address. Summer Discovery will contact them on your behalf.
Step 3:
Pay your $100 Application Fee.
