Middle School Enrichment with Summer Discovery at Georgetown
Our Junior Discovery experience is for middle school students wanting to explore their academic interests while experiencing a college-like learning environment. Our middle school programs have just the right balance of academic rigor and engagement, combined with active support and a 1:10 staff to student ratio to ensure students get the mentorship and guidance they need. Live in the heart of DC, where learning is a part of your environment beyond the walls of campus, and explore many academics courses not offered in high school. Make new friends, explore college life, and prepare for your future!

Located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., Georgetown has a warm and nurturing campus community amid a global city. Students can experience the history and culture of D.C. or choose a quiet spot on campus to connect with friends. The local area has tons of cafes, shops, restaurants, and theaters to explore. With access to Six Flags America, the Baltimore Waterfront, National Aquarium, D.C. monuments, the Potomac River, and more, there are diverse opportunities to get involved and have fun. From catching a major league game to organizing your own pick-up game, we’ve got it all - on and off campus, and on weekdays and weekends.

Program Details
Living: Our home on campus is Village C West. Students live in a double room with in-room, private bathrooms. Every air-conditioned room includes a bed, study desk, bookshelves, closet, and free Wi-Fi. Lounges, laundry facilities, and the Summer Discovery Office are all in our residence hall. We are located in central campus and close to academic buildings and Recreation Center. Did we mention we’re a quick walk to M Street in the heart of Georgetown?
Dining: All-you-can-eat meals on campus are served daily at Leo O’Donovan Hall. You will receive three meals every weekday, and two on the weekends. Choose from daily options that include hearth oven pizza, grilled sandwiches, BBQ, deli station, salad bar, and sweets station. Are you a vegetarian? Do you have food allergies? Special diets are not a problem.

• Tour the 14 museums that makeup the Smithsonian, the largest museum complex in the world.

Self Reported GPA, counselor/advisor contact information
Step 1: Complete the Summer Discovery online application with $100 non-refundable application fee (not applicable towards tuition).
Step 2: Fill out the application section by section, paying careful attention to the information you provide. Note: When asked for your GPA (High School Students only), you will self-report and type in your current GPA. When asked for your counselor/advisor contact information (all applicants), be sure to include their first and last name and an exact email address. Summer Discovery will contact them on your behalf.
Step 3: Pay your $100 Application Fee. Note: Alumni receive waived application fee, expedited application submission, and enrollment savings on tuition.
Residential tuition includes: Term fees, academic and enrichment program, housing, comprehensive welcome orientation and icebreakers, meals on campus, use of athletic and recreation facilities, activities and trips, transportation for included activities, blanket and pillow.
Not included: Application fee, $95 student ID/technology fee, airfare, airport transfers (available for $85 each way), class materials, course supplements, meals eaten off campus, medical expenses, laundry, linens, and spending money.
Commuter tuition includes: Courses & Workshops, lunch in Leo O’Donovan Hall Hall Monday-Thursday, Friday trips, daily afternoon activity, and access to Village C West lounges. Note: Commuter students are not permitted to attend other evening or off-campus activities and excursions.

• International Student Registration Fee:
- All international students living outside the United States and attending a residential program in the U.S., will be assessed a non-refundable International Registration Fee of $359. This fee includes U.S. health/medical insurance coverage (with deductible) while attending Summer Discovery, plus airport transfers with meet/assist in the U.S., including a letter of introduction to assist with obtaining a short-stay visitors travel document or a B1/B2 visa.
- All international students living outside the United States and attending a program in the U.S. as a commuter, will be assessed a non-refundable International Registration Fee of $219. This fee includes U.S. health/medical insurance coverage (with deductible) while attending Summer Discovery and a letter of introduction to assist with obtaining a short-stay visitors travel document or a B1/B2 visa.
Financial Aid
Summer Discovery provides scholarship assistance to students and their families through many different channels. Primarily, we partner with mentoring organizations to offer scholarships.
As our individual scholarships are limited, we encourage you to reach out to your school counselor and community for academic fundraising and scholarship opportunities. If needed, we can always provide paperwork detailing the academic value of our programs. We also suggest visiting Fund My Travel, an online fundraising website.
